We have been looking for this nut chopper ever since our old glass and metal one fell off the kitchen counter and broke. This one, abeit it plastic and plastic, works just fine. I read a previous review wherein some clown gave it bad marks because it broke soon after he attempted to chop frozen almonds; well, this one ain't for frozen anything but it works at advertised on everything else. I'd recommend a buy for this item. (I notice it's depicted as a left hand grind; we got the right hand model.)

Are you looking for something that says exactly what it does? I searched high and low for a portable, manual, handheld nut grinder that does exactly what it was supposed to do. And it is clear, that this nut grinder does the job.
I was tired of using other tools that couldn't cut it. The electric ones are overkill and I don't care for battery-operated ones because I always run out of batteries. I used an extra coffee grinder to grind nuts, but it was so susceptible to human error. A little ways in either direction ruined the meat. If you were a little heavy-handed, you could overwork the grinding mechanism and you ended up with nut butter goo. If you were too light, it would take too much time because you would keep opening up the grinder to check the consistency and it would take too long. I would end up getting so frustrated that I wasn't feeling up to doing it anymore.
But with this tool, it's perfect! I am nuts about this! You put one hand on the base, your other hand on the the handle that glides like a dream and go to town. Just crank it to completion. It makes you feel like you've been doing this forever and you can't screw it up. The consistency is always perfect---- no overworking or underworking. It is consistent with excellent, expected results everytime.
I am super satisfied with this nut grinder and recommend it to all my girlfriends who are SERIOUSLY into nuts. I'm a nut fiend! I have used this with Mexican Pinon Nuts, English Walnuts, Black Walnuts, Hawaiian Macadamias, and more!
This is not recommended for people who have an aversion to nuts or the people who aren't sure they like nuts or people who only like them from time to time. I do not think it is a good investment for those people. Also, for those who either only mildly like nuts or play with the idea of eating them can have severe reactions if they accidentally play with a nut grinder only to have them realize they're allergic. Let me tell you, allergic reactions to nuts can be disastrous scarring people emotionally for life. You don't want to see a mildly nut-resistant person go into anaphalactic shock as they will turn into anti-nut nazis.
Anyhow, all in all this is a good investment for people who like nuts.

I bought this chopper a couple years ago and so far have not had any trouble with the teeth bending or breaking off, even when using frozen nuts. From the photo provided here on Amazon, it looks as if they've changed the design of the lid. I hope that is so, because the two lids I have (one for each side) are incredibly cheap plastic. A really bad fid onto the unit and one lid completely tore so it couldn't be used anymore. the other side is nearly as bad. It's only kept in place to keep the nuts from falling through the bottom. With a better lid, I would rate this 4 or 5 stars.Customer Review: As expected

I had for the longest time an OLD nut chopper that my great grand mother had. Worked good but when it came to almonds they stopped it cold. I then decided to look for another nut chopper that would be able to do almonds and put my old chopper to rest. I looked on Amazon.com as I've done a lot of orders and research for products here and came across the Progressive International Heavy Duty Nut Chopper. I read the reviews. Some better than others and then decided, "what the heck", I'll order it. My other one was made of glass and metal so was kinda wondering about the plastic on this one. Boy, to my amazement this worked GREAT on almonds. The teeth are metal which is good and the measuring cup (so to speak) for the bottom is great. They go through the almonds like a hot knife through butter. I would certainly recommend this to anyone and the price is very very reasonable. I'm sure I'll to have it for many years to come. If it does break, I'll just order another one just like it.
