Customer Review: A great mandoline slicer at a great price

I had a Cuisinart mandoline that cost four times what this Progressive mandoline cost and the Cuisinart was a piece of junk. I got so frustrated with it that I threw the whole thing away. I just received this mandoline last week and cut potatoes for french fries, something the Cuisinart could not seem to do. Cutting the potatoes was a breeze! None of the potato got jammed, the pieces were all uniform and I didn't have to struggle trying to push the potato across the slicer. The only thing that I sort of didn't like is the guard as it didn't seem that the prongs were long enough to actually hold the potato. But that is a small complaint when I finally own a mandoline that actually works!
Footnote to original review: Please, please, please be respectful of the blade on this slicer. The second time that I used it I didn't use the guard which I had found to be awkward the first time that I used it. Although I thought that I was being careful before I knew it I had sliced off about one half of the nail on my middle finger of my right hand and a very large amount of tissue under the nail. I really have no idea what I did but it was a good lesson to me to be very careful. The way that this madoline slices is great but do be careful because you can have a really nasty cut in a heartbeat.
