I like these cups they're cute, but the idea of saving space because they collapse is more of an optical illusion than a reality. I keep mine in a drawer open, i.e, not collapsed, as there's less than a half inch difference when nesting them open as opposed to collapsed and they're more convenient to use already opened, they nest better, and you don't have to worry about wearing them out. I think it's about 2 3/4 "collapsed" and almost 3 1/4 inches open. I doubt that would make much difference to most people. You may be able to save another quarter inch if you stagger the handles, but then you lose a lot of the tight nesting look.
The only REAL advantage, I see, in collapsing them is if you want to hang them on the fridge and the magnets are strong enough to carry them, but the 3/4 and 1 cupper may need a kitchen magnet item under them to prevent their sliding down, or a small magnetic strip.
Others were saying the ink (or paint) wore off the handle so I put masking tape on either end for a smooth line and used clear nail polish and it worked fine. Ahem, I use it mainly for fishing line and my bottle was over ten years old so after the first one I'm waiting on some nail thinner before applying the others, but it seems to work fine.
All in all, I think the saving space with the collapsing is more illusory (and a cutesy selling point) than a reality. However, I really like the magnets in the handles that holds them together and allows easy separation. This is a great idea that I wish were employed in measuring spoons also. Maybe it is, I'm new to this cooking biz.
These are ok, but I think I saw a set of stainless steel jobbies I'm going to get.

I bought these for my wife and she loves them, its great that the collapse so they dont take up much room in the cabinets.
